Meet our FCA Sports Team


Sean Rooney

FCA Sports Idaho Director | Head Coach | Day Camp Director

Sean went to Esperanza HS, earned 1st team All-League and All-County honors and signed to UC Davis on a baseball scholarship. After a year at Davis, he was led back to Orange County to play at Saddleback College. Just before the spring season of 2006, Sean decided to put his baseball career in the hands of the Lord.


That season, he went on to become the Triple Crown winner (leader in AVG, HR, and RBI), Conference Player of the Year, and 1st Team All-American. He then signed with Pepperdine University.


In June, the Washington Nationals drafted him in the 8th round of the 2006 MLB First Year Player DraftSean was named a South Atlantic League All-Star in 2008 in Low A with the Hagerstown Suns.

Ryan Dearing

FCA Sports Area Rep | Head Coach | Day Camp Director

Ryan went to Kamiakin High School where he earned First Team All-Conference (Mid-Columbia Conference) honors his senior year. He accepted Christ as his savior as he pursued a college baseball career which started at CBC. He was a two-year starter there, earning First Team All-Conference Honors Northwest Athletic Conference) his Sophomore year as an outfielder.


He continued his career at Northwest Nazarene University where he played in the 2021 Division 2 World Series where the Nighthawks ended their record setting season at 6th in the nation. Ryan earned 2nd team All-Region (West Region) honors that year as the lead off center fielder.

Cheryl Schaefer

NATIONAL PRO FASTPITCH

 

At Point Loma Nazarene University, Schaefer (playing under her maiden name Bolding) was a four-time first team all-GSAC player, a four-time NAIA All-American, a three-time GSAC Player of the Year winner, and a two-time NAIA National Player of the Year.


Schaefer helped the Sea Lions with two GSAC and two Region II titles and was a part of three teams that made the NAIA National Championship Tournament where they finished 2nd in the nation in 2002.


Schaefer still ranks in the NAIA top-10 in numerous offensive categories and her name is in the PLNU university career and single season record book in 17 places. She was inducted into the PLNU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008 and to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2010.

Jake Allen

FCA Baseball Camp Coach

Jake comes in after his first season as the head coach of Nampa Christian High School. He was the assistant varsity coach for the past three seasons before taking over as head coach. He entered college at MidAmerica Nazarene University as a pitcher and infielder before a shoulder injury ended his career. He has coached various youth levels with his kids and enjoys being a part of the game and teaching young players how to be better ball players and men!
